SANDY — A First Utah Bank branch in Sandy was robbed at gunpoint shortly before 6 p.m. Friday.

A man entered the bank, brandished a handgun and demanded cash from bank tellers. After bank employees complied, the robber instructed tellers to turn around, and he left the business.

Sandy police spokesman Victor Quezada said the man is believed to be in his 20s, about 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-8-inches and of medium build. He was wearing white painters pants, with paint stains, a white hoody and a grey bandana. Quezada said the man was also wearing gloves, and his features were concealed by the bandana and possibly a stocking mask.

Video images captured by surveillance cameras is being processed and Quezada said the agency will be releasing further information as it is obtained.
