A West Valley man who was shot by West Valley police on April 12 after they say he fired at officers was charged with multiple felonies, including four counts of first-degree attempted homicide, in a 3rd District Court filing Friday.

Police said Randy Jeffs, 47, opened fire on them as soon as they arrived at his residence near 6500 West and 3820 South Monday night and that they returned gunfire, wounding Jeffs. Officers were responding to a domestic dispute call, and neighbors reported hearing dozens of shots coming from inside the home. After the exchange of gunfire, Jeffs yelled to police that he was shot and came to his front door but remained combative. An attempt by police to subdue him with a Taser was unsuccesful, and a police dog was released on the man.

Jeffs was arrested and treated at University Hospital and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail late Tuesday. He remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bond.
