Find fun activities at area libraries this summer

Here is a selected list of summer activities at area libraries:

Summer Reading Program for Kids: Pick up a summer reading schedule and game board at any city library location to participate. (Co-sponsored by 3M.)

Read Down Your Fines: All Library locations, through Aug. 31.

Youths ages 15 and under with a library card can sign up to "read down" fines. Sign up at any service desk, and a staff member will time your reading. For every 20 minutes you read, the library will remove $1 of overdue fines. Older kids can read to young kids, and each will receive a credit. Sign up for summer reading and your time can also be used to earn prizes.

HawkWatch: Day-Riverside Library, June 18, 2 p.m.; Main Library, June 24, 2 p.m.

Scientists look at many indicators to understand ecosystem health: water quality, animal populations and interactions between organisms and their environments. At HawkWatch International, scientists count raptors. For grades 3 and up.

Buggly Bugs: A Story Event: Main Library, June 21, 7 p.m.; Sprague Library, July 7, 7 p.m.

Three professional storytellers tell fun, silly stories about bugs and insects.

Journey to a Rainforest: Anderson-Foothill Library, June 18, 2 p.m.; Chapman Library, July 18, 2 p.m.

The Living Planet Aquarium takes you on a rich, imaginary journey to the rainforest. Dress for your travels among parrots, snakes and hissing cockroaches.

The Buzz on Insects: Main Library, June 19, 2 p.m.; Day-Riverside Library, June 25, 2 p.m.; Anderson-Foothill Library, July 19, 2 p.m.

The strange, the weird, the truly awesome and the horrifically grotesque — learn facts about the world of insects at this creepy-crawly program.

Bugged: Irritating Tales From Bee City: Sprague Library, June 22, 2 p.m.; Sweet Library, July 28, 7 p.m.; Chapman Library, Aug. 7, 7 p.m.

The Starry-Eyed Puppets present incredible insect tales.

No Girls Allowed! Sprague Library, June 26, 2 p.m.; Main Library, Aug. 5, 7 p.m.; Day-Riverside Library, Aug. 6, 1 p.m.

Celebrate all the things about being a guy. With stories, puppets and crazy activities, the library will surprise you. Ages 8-12. Registration required.

Learn to Juggle: Anderson-Foothill Library, June 28, 2 p.m.; Day-Riverside Library, July 12, 2 p.m.; Sprague Library, Aug. 2, 2 p.m.

The Wasatch Front Jugglers put on a show and teach you how to juggle.
