A semi overturned Thursday afternoon, spilling about 4,000 gallons of oil across a highway near Heber City.

The driver of the Flying J truck swerved to miss a deer on U.S. Highway 40, said Trooper Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol. The truck hit a guardrail, causing the trailer to tip and the tank to rupture.

The highway was shut down around 1:30 p.m. Crews were working to clean up the massive spill, a small amount of which seeped into a nearby stream, into the evening.

The highway was expected to reopen around 8 p.m.

No one was injured in the crash, and no other cars were involved.
