Idiotic short-term measures

Election year brings out the giveaways to induce the voting population to vote for a candidate. Congress spends money like there is no tomorrow. We will be getting our "rebate checks" within the next several weeks. What's going to happen to the roads and bridges when the gas tax doesn't produce enough revenue for repair?

The country is at a record mortage default level because of poor lending standards. What you are seeing today with our government is idiotic short-term measures that are costing the taxpayers billions of dollars with no long-term solutions.
