SANDY — A man investigators say ripped people off at a home show in Sandy has been arrested in Canada.

In March, Sandy investigators learned of a man who claimed to be a central vacuum salesman at the Home Show at the Expo Center, 9575 S. State, in August of 2007. At least two people purchased vacuums from the man and had their credit cards processed but never received their products.

As Sandy detectives began looking into the case, they discovered the man, Michael Goldberg, had at least five aliases and was wanted by police for similar scams in California and Minnesota.

Tuesday, Sandy Police Sgt. Victor Quezada confirmed Goldberg had been arrested in Newfoundland over the weekend.

Further information was expected to be released after subpoenas were issued, he said.
