CAMP WILLIAMS — Retired Army Sgt. Kenneth Berry, 83, of Kearns received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and other medals earned for service in World War II at a ceremony at the Camp Williams headquarters building Saturday.

According to Utah National Guard spokesman Maj. Hank McIntire, Berry did not receive medals he earned during the war because of paperwork errors and a unit transfer.

Berry's son, Richard, tracked down the necessary military records to confirm the former soldier, who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and four other major combat operations, was eligible for the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Meritorious Unit Commendation, European-African Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal with Silver Service Star, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button and Belgian Fourragere.

Col. Robert Dunton, commander of Army Garrison Camp Williams, Utah National Guard, presented the medals.
