NCAA cuts Weber State scholarships
The NCAA also is cutting the team's practice time to 16 hours a week from 20. Weber State coaches plan to drop Monday practices and use the four hours for study hall.
The NCAA evaluates the academic progress of athletes who compete at Division I schools. The penalties are based on a four-year average of scores.
Weber State's lost scholarships include 3.6 that were taken away a year ago. The Wildcats say they'll have 57.1 football scholarships for 2008-09.
