CLINTON — Parents who want to learn about the warning signs of drug use in their children are invited to a community enhancement class at Parkside Elementary, 1500 W. 2300 North, Clinton.

Thursday's class at 7 p.m., will focus on protecting the family from illegal and prescription drug abuse and underage drinking, said Clinton City Councilwoman Cheri Reed.

Reed said parents are often in denial and don't know the warning signs.

The class will feature Craig PoVey, a prevention administrator from the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health.

"It's such a problem in Utah," Reed says. "You never think it will knock on your door."

Clinton hosts the community enhancement classes monthly. Previous topics have dealt with gardening, interior decorating, protecting the family from pornography, Utah vacations and organizing and dejunking the home.
