Salt Lake Bees notebook: Willits called up to Angels, but Bees get Brown in return

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced Friday that the club has optioned infielder Matt Brown to Triple-A Salt Lake and recalled outfielder Reggie Willits to the Angels from Salt Lake.

Brown, 25, appeared in two games for the Angels in 2008, hitting .200 with one double and two RBIs. He owns a team-high .425 batting average with the Bees this season, along with 23 RBIs, six home runs, 11 doubles and three triples.

Named Pacific Coast League Hitter of the Week for April 3-13, the Bellevue, Wash. native was originally selected by the Angels in the 10th round of the 2001 draft.

Willits, 26, hit .378 with two doubles, one triple and four RBIs in 10 games for the Bees in 2008. He went 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs in five games for the Angels before being optioned to Salt Lake on April 16.

A native of Chickasha, Okla., Willits was originally selected by the Angels in the seventh round of the 2003 free-agent draft.

SPECIAL MEAL DEAL TUESDAYS: The Bees are now offering an All-You-Can-Eat Special on Tuesdays at Franklin Covey Field for the remainder of the 2008 season (except May 13).

A reserved seat and meal will cost $25. The special features hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, peanuts, Cracker Jack and sodas. A special "All-You-Can-Eat" ticket will be issued upon purchase at the Bees box office.

"We are always looking for opportunities to enhance the fan experience at our games," said Bees general manager Marc Amicone. "The All-You-Can-Eat package is a great value.

Food will be served 30 minutes prior to game time and continue through the top of the fifth inning at the left-field concession stand. Wristbands will be issued and monitored by a guest services attendant at the concessions stand. Patrons will be given one plate each trip to include a maximum of four items per trip and a limit of two of any one type of item per trip.
