Tooele's Grantsville High School is the happy recipient of a bevy of used computers and flat-screen monitors donated by the Salt Lake offices of the Bureau of Land Management.

The equipment became available after a BLM upgrade and, although it is used, the school said it provides a marked upgrade from the computers it had been using.

"We cannot thank BLM enough," said Grantsville High technology teacher Preston Lorenson.

BLM West Desert District manager Glen Carpenter views the donation as an investment in the future.

"These computers and Internet technology can yield positive results for students and teachers alike by connecting classrooms and accessible information access, so everyone gains," Carpenter said.

The 36 computers and 12 monitors are being used by the school's library, counseling center and photography department.
