Concert by Raye, Osmonds to target child abuse
"Children are suffering from a hidden epidemic of child abuse and neglect," said Jared Osmond. "While 3 million reports of child abuse are made every year in the United States, experts estimate that the actual number of incidents of abuse and neglect is three times greater than reported. In Utah County alone, 10 kids are pulled out of their homes every day because of abuse. With statistics like this I just couldn't stand by and do nothing."
After a 13-year break from the music business, Jared Osmond has released his second CD, "Innocent Ones," inspired by discovering abuse by one of the tenants in one of his rental properties. All profits from sales of the CD will go toward stopping child abuse.
Osmond is dedicating the proceeds from the concert and silent auction to the Utah Valley Family Support and Treatment Center, which provides prevention education to local schools, a crisis respite nursery for families in crisis and therapy classes for adults and children.
