SOFTBALL: Reminiscent of their previous meeting earlier this season, the Cougars made quick work of Northern Colorado, defeating the Bears 9-0 on Tuesday. With the win, the Cougars improve to 37-16 on the season while the Bears fall to 13-35.
Pitcher Paige Affleck led BYU with seven strikeouts in earning her 10th win on the season, as the Cougars' pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout.
BYU heads to Salt Lake City to take on in-state rival Utah on today and Saturday.
VOLLEYBALL: Markelle Malone (Las Vegas), Malia Marquardt (Vista, Calif.) and Nicole Warner (Rigby, Idaho) have all signed national letters of intent to play for BYU next fall.
Utah Valley
Moore (7-5) tied a school record for wins in a season after allowing
one run on five hits and striking out five in seven innings of work. He allowed just one hit over his final 5 2/3 innings and, after lowering his ERA to 2.99 this season, will start Monday's home-finale against BYU.
Scott Croshaw knocked in four runs for UVSC and Jake Rickenbach added a two-run single. Jace Brinkerhoff homered in each game. Dick Bargewell hit his first home run of the year in the second game.
The Wolverines will travel to play ninth-ranked Oklahoma State for a four-game series beginning today at 5:30 p.m. MT.
SOFTBALL: The Wolverines dropped both games of a doubleheader against Northern Colorado on Wednesday at MSTAR Field, 10-2 and 6-3. With the losses, the Wolverines dropped to 12-32 on the year, and the Bears improved to 16-36.
Junior Heidi Stocks led the way offensively for Utah Valley with four hits in six at bats. Sophomore Jessica Anderson also had two hits and three RBIs on the day, including her second home run of the season.
