Credit union donating $50,000 to schools

OGDEN — Goldenwest Credit Union will donate more than $50,000, raised during the credit union's eighth annual "5K For Schools" March 29, to nine local schools. The race drew the largest crowd in the event's history, with 2,600 runners and walkers registered.

All registration fees will be donated to the schools, with Goldenwest adding $5 for each entry received.

The 5K is a fundraiser for nine schools — Bonneville High, South Ogden Junior High, T.H. Bell Junior High, H. Guy Child Elementary, MarLon Hills Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Uintah Elementary, Washington Terrace Elementary and Club Heights Elementary. The schools use the funds to purchase much-needed equipment and materials, and to support programs such as athletics and clubs.
