Arrest made in hit-and-run case
Connie Blount, 18, was killed April 13 when she was hit by a pickup truck while crossing a street early in the morning. The truck fled the scene after the accident.
Thursday, Shannon D. Houser, 36, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor, and tampering with physical evidence, a felony. He was scheduled to make his first court appearance this afternoon at Fayette County District Court in Kentucky.
Houser was released Friday morning after posting bond.
Late last week, Blount's father, Jack, had reported that investigators were able to locate the pickup truck from the accident and impound it.
They found the truck after a constable received a tip from an informant who said Houser told him he had done something bad, according to WKYT television in Kentucky. The informant was told the incident would be on the news, according to WKYT.
When police went to Houser's house April 19, they found him taking his truck apart, WKYT reported.
Police could not release details Friday as to why Houser left the scene of the accident or what he was doing that caused him not to see Blount.
The investigation was continuing Friday.
