In his book, Peace Is Every Step, Thich Nhat Hanh says walking meditation is the best way to deal with anger. It is best to walk outside, he says, because the trees and sky are healing in and of themselves. The Buddhist author suggests saying these words as you walk:

(Breathing in) I know that anger is here.
(Breathing out) I know that anger is me.
(Breathing in) I know that anger is unpleasant.
(Breathing out) I know this feeling will pass.
(Breathing in) I am calm.
(Breathing out) I know I am strong enough to take care of this anger.

Isn't walking a time when we can escape from a lot of other distractions...
