WIN A FISHING TRIP

A few of Utah's junior high and high school students could be fishing with some of Utah's best fishermen and win a fishing trip to Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

The trip includes an overnight stay, meals, fishing tackle and instruction from pros and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources officers.

To qualify, a student must submit a 300- to 500-word essay by April 30.

The subject is why fishing is special and important, and what can be done to protect it in the future.

In May, one winner in each grade — 7 through 12 — will be selected for the free trip.

The contest is sponsored by the Utah Conservation Officers Association. For more information visit and to submission visit www.wildlife.utah.gov/essaycontest.

Those who applied should receive an e-mail and a letter by April 30. Those who do not receive notification can learn by logging onto the DWR's Web site — www.wildlife.utah.gov or by calling 800-221-0659.

Draw results will be available by 8 a.m. on April 30. Those permits not taken will be on the 2008 big game remaining permits list also on the Web site. The list will also be posted by April 30.

Some general season buck deer permits for the Northern Region and statewide general archery buck deer permits are usually still available after the draw.

Last year, all of Utah's general archery buck deer permits were gone by July 23. Northern Region general rifle and muzzleloader permits sold out on Aug. 21.

A total of 12,300 any bull elk unit permits, and 11,000 spike bull elk unit permits, will be available on June 12. For more information call 800-221-0659 or 801-538-4700.

SPRING CYCLE TOUR
