Outdoor notes
A few of Utah's junior high and high school students could be fishing with some of Utah's best fishermen and win a fishing trip to Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
The trip includes an overnight stay, meals, fishing tackle and instruction from pros and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources officers.
To qualify, a student must submit a 300- to 500-word essay by April 30.
The subject is why fishing is special and important, and what can be done to protect it in the future.
In May, one winner in each grade 7 through 12 will be selected for the free trip.
The contest is sponsored by the Utah Conservation Officers Association. For more information visit and to submission visit www.wildlife.utah.gov/essaycontest.
