That high pressure in the second half led to eight second-half corner kicks, including four straight in the opening minute, but RSL failed to convert any of them.

Kreis upped the ante in the 63rd minute by replacing ineffective defender Ian Joy with Andy Williams and going with a more aggressive 3-5-2 formation. Within minutes Kenny Deuchar and Dema Kovalenko each had decent scoring chances, with Deuchar redirecting a header right at the keeper and Kovalenko spraying a side volley wide.

The final 20 minutes were much of the same, with RSL desperately pushing forward for the equalizer and Toronto FC hoping for a counter attack to ice the game.

"Unfortunately we gave up a goal and that was enough to beat us today," said Wingert. "We just need to play better soccer a little earlier."

Real Salt Lake will be on the road again next weekend at D.C. United, which RSL crushed 4-0 in Salt Lake City just last weekend.
