City Creek is going green in national pilot program

Bills said CCRI also is hopeful that the project's residential towers individually will qualify for some level of LEED certification.

LEED is a voluntary, nationally recognized standard to support and certify successful green building design, construction and operations.


4 Utah developments joining LEED program

Four Utah developments are taking part in the LEED neighborhood development pilot program, a joint venture of the U.S. Green Building Council, Congress for the New Urbanism and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

• City Creek Center — A 20-acre private mixed-use development of the LDS Church located at the former Crossroads Plaza and ZCMI Center malls sites in downtown Salt Lake City.

• Marmalade — A 5.5-acre mixed-use Redevelopment Agency project just west of the state Capitol.

• Daybreak Village Center — A 47-acre development of homes, retail shops and offices in the South Jordan master-planned community.

• Newpark Town Center — A 350-acre resort area in Park City featuring office, residential, hotel, retail and recreational space.
