5-year-old tests positive for cocaine; 2 charged
A 54-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman now face felony charges in connection with the incident.
In February, a woman called the Department of Child and Family Services and said she "knew of a mother and father who were using both cocaine and heroin in front of their child," according to charges filed Monday in 3rd District Court.
The woman said she "borrowed" the 5-year-old's urine to pass a drug test, but the urine came back positive for cocaine, according to court documents. Police later tested the boy's hair and urine both came back positive for cocaine, according to the charges.
The man and woman have been charged with clandestine laboratory endangerment of a child, a third-degree felony.
