Word of the Week: 'Diligence'
The word "diligence" comes from a root that means esteem highly, love, choose, take delight in. Its formal definitions embrace a number of distinct senses. The Oxford English Dictionary defines diligence as "constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent application and endeavor; industry; assiduity (constant or close attention to the business at hand); unremitting application." It also has the sense of heedfulness and looking after carefully.
