New Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker is bringing back the city's old logo.

Becker said he prefers the black-and-white design featuring the likeness of the City-County Building to the one designed during Mayor Rocky Anderson's administration.

"It reflects more the way people think about City Hall and city government," Becker said of the older logo. "I think it's quite dignified and reflects historic preservation, which is important to me."

The older logo will be transitioned into city use over time, Becker said.

The mayor's decision to revert to the old logo came after he was asked about having a new logo created for his administration.

"We decided we didn't want to spend any money on a new logo," Becker said. "We looked back through previous logo designs and decided we liked the logo of the City-County Building."

The logo most recently was used during Mayor Deedee Corradini's administration.
