Time's almost up to get your share of the $5.8 million that the Internal Revenue Service has in unclaimed refunds for Utah residents from the 2004 tax year.

If you never filed a federal income-tax return for 2004, you can collect your refund, without penalty, by filing a return for that year with an IRS office no later than Tuesday, April 15. Some filers also may be eligible for an earned income-tax credit.

Refund checks will be held, however, for people who didn't file tax returns for 2005 or 2006, or who owe money to the IRS or in unpaid child support or past-due student loans.

Also, Utah residents must file a 2007 tax return to get their economic stimulus checks that could be up to $600 per person and another $300 per child. To receive the stimulus payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number and $3,000 of qualifying income.

Tax forms and instructions are available at IRS.gov.
