Auditions

"Ragtime," Sandy Arts Guild will hold open auditions Monday, April 7 from 7-9 p.m. at the Sandy Parks and Recreation building, 440 E. 8680 South. This is a concert version of the musical with orchestra, chorus and soloists on stage. Callbacks will be held Friday, April 11 with dance auditions at that time. Needed are African-American and Caucasian men and women ages 16 and older, and children 7-12 years old. Be prepared to sing 16 bars of music in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music, an accompanist will be provided — no minus tracks. Auditioners should also have a resume and and current photo. Trevor Jerome directs and music directs. "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (revised)" Open auditions for Stage Right Theater Company and Davis Arts Council's production. April 8-9, 6:30-9:30 p.m. by appointment. Auditions will be held at Davis Arts Council, 445 N. Wasatch Dr., Layton.

Those auditioning should come prepared to to sing 32 bars of an upbeat song from any genre and to do a cold reading from the script. An accompanist will be provided. CDs are also welcome. The show runs June 9-14 in Layton then travels to Midvale from June 21-28.

"Page-to-Stage Festival," Wasatch Theatre Company and the Utah Association of Community Theatres (U-ACT) are calling for local playwrights to submit their short scripts. The festival is accepting short scripts, 10 to 15 minutes long. Scripts should contain no more than five characters and should use minimal sets and props.

Selected scripts will be produced at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in September where playwrights could win cash awards based on audience-voted favorites. Selected full-length scripts will also be chosen for staged readings. Send scripts to: Wasatch Theatre Company, RE: PAGE-TO-STAGE FESTIVAL, 10776 Pine Grove Way, South Jordan, UT 84095.
