"This is very difficult for the community. It is catching everybody by surprise," Gubler said. "We are very saddened to acknowledge the resignation of Dr. Caldwell. We love Lee and his wife, Bonnie. This community adores them and we appreciate their wonderful service. Now we need to focus forward, take Lee's legacy and make it real."
Nadauld said he would continue discussions on the U. affiliation by bringing stakeholders together to investigate the pros and cons of the idea with the hope of reaching a solution that "really works for everyone involved."
Nadauld, 65, guided Weber State University from college to university status and believes that his experience as president there, from 1985 to 1990, will help him better understand the situation in St. George.
"We look forward to getting acquainted with the wonderful students, outstanding faculty and dedicated staff that we know are part of Dixie State College," he said. "Dixie State has a wonderfully supportive community and a very bright future."
"It's always exciting to go into a community that is growing," he said. "With growth comes lots of possibilities."
Nadauld is currently a professor of finance for the Marriott Graduate School of Management at Brigham Young University. He has served the LDS Church as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy and as president of the Geneva Switzerland Mission.
He is currently a member of the Deseret Book Corp., the O.C. Tanner Corp. and the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority. He has degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, Harvard Business School and BYU. He also attended the University of Idaho and Ricks College.
