The calendar says spring, but try telling that to the weather.

A quick snowstorm, followed by strong winds, hit northern Utah on Thursday morning in what forecasters say could be a weekend preview.

The storm left 3 inches of snow along the benches in Ogden and Millcreek, said meteorologist Chris Gibson of the National Weather Service. Snowbasin reported 5 inches of the white stuff.

"It was a quick storm — in and out," Gibson said. "In the wake, the main story is a pretty strong wind blowing in eastern Utah."

Winds gusted at about 50 mph in Duchesne and Roosevelt on Thursday afternoon, kicking up a lot of dust in those areas.

And Utahns can expect more snow and rain this weekend, Gibson said.

"It's going to be kind of a weekend spoiler," he said.

Skies will be cloudy Friday as another round of rain and snow approaches. The NWS forecast highs in the lower 40s and upper 30s during a wet weekend. Rain and snow are expected Saturday night and into Sunday, Gibson said.
