Playing at local movie theaters
DOOMSDAY * A dopey sci-fi thriller that copies "28 Days Later" and every other "virus wipes us out" movie of recent vintage. Running time: 105 minutes, R (violence, gore, profanity, sex, nudity) Roger Moore, The Orlando Sentinel
DR. SEUSS' HORTON HEARS A WHO! *** This mostly charming comic fantasy is rendered in state-of-the-art digital animation and includes more of the actual Seuss material. Running time: 88 minutes, G (comic violence, mild vulgarity, brief drugs, slurs)
DRILLBIT TAYLOR *** There may be some questionable humor, but this Owen Wilson vehicle recalls the cultily adored 1980 hit "My Bodyguard." Running time: 102 minutes, PG-13 (violence, vulgarity, profanity, brief partial nudity, drugs, brief sex, slurs)
ENCHANTED *** Amy Adams enchants as a fairy-tale princess trapped in the real world in this cheeky romantic comedy/fantasy. Running time: 95 minutes, PG (violence, mild vulgarity, mild profanity, nude art)
FOOL'S GOLD * 1/2 A charmless romantic comedy-adventure that's dumber even than the recent "National Treasure" sequel. Running time: 110 minutes, PG-13 (violence, profanity, vulgarity, brief sex, brief partial nudity)
FUNNY GAMES ** All this unpleasant thriller remake shows is that a film can be somewhat restrained and subtle and still be in bad taste. Naomi Watts stars. Running time: 112 minutes, R (violence, profanity, torture, gore, vulgarity, brief drugs, slurs)
THE GOLDEN COMPASS * A muddled, confusing fantasy that adds up to little more than the "Yawn-icles of Narnia." Running time: 113 minutes, PG-13 (violence) Eleanor O'Sullivan, Asbury Park (N.J.) Press
