Two arrested in dollar store slaying; police seeking female driver
Biu Olive, who turned 18 Monday, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of first-degree felony counts of murder and aggravated robbery.
A second male, a juvenile, was booked into detention on similar charges.
Police say they believe Olive was the shooter during the Wednesday robbery of the Family Dollar Store at 1145 S. Glendale Dr. (1350 West). Wally Knapton, 49, was shot and killed, despite cooperating with the gunman. Witnesses said two men entered the store and then fled in gold sedan driven by a third person.
During a SWAT incident Monday night in which officers surrounded a home at 636 S. Emery (1170 West), a vehicle was eventually impounded. Police today said the car is believed to be the getaway vehicle.
Police are looking for Sarah Ataata, 19, and released her photograph Tuesday. Investigators believe Ataata was the get-away driver in the shooting. She was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, 180 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
Homicide investigators received a tip from a "concerned" citizen which led them to the house on Emery, said Salt Lake police detective Jeff Bedard. Police declined to comment Tuesday on what, if any evidence may have been seized from the home.
Investigators are continuing to probe whether the two taken into custody have any connection with previous robberies around the valley.
