Michael Jensen wants another four years to fight for Salt Lake County's booming west side.

The incumbent Republican county councilman recently announced his re-election bid for his District 2 seat.

For the past four years, he's served as the lone councilman from the west side. All three at-large seats on the council are held by elected officials living in Salt Lake City.

He lives in Magna with his wife and five children.

During his tenure, Jensen has lobbied for west-side issues, especially transportation. He wants to make sure the Mountain View Corridor is built, and without making it a toll road.

Jensen said he is running on the issues of public safety, transportation, long-range planning and government transparency.

He currently serves as chairman of the County Council and works as the deputy chief of the Unified Fire Authority.

Democrat Paul Pugmire has filed to run against Jensen.
