Jonathan Jemming, a former assistant attorney general, announced Monday he will run as a Democrat for the 4th District seat on the Salt Lake County Council.

Jemming is an environmental policy analyst and attorney who says his campaign is about "expanding community involvement in county government."

A former high school social studies teacher, Jemming was raised in West Valley City and received a bachelor's degree in history at Westminster College, a master's degree in environmental policy from Northern Arizona University and a law degree from the University of Utah. He is currently an analyst for the state and lives in Canyon Rim.

The 4th District seat is currently held by Mark Crockett, who has not officially announced if he plans to run for re-election.
