RUMOR MILL: According to the New York Post, the Knicks inquired at last month's trade deadline about ex-Jazz point guard Carlos Arroyo of Orlando. Arroyo supposedly is a potential offseason free-agent target for the Knicks, though the Puerto Rico native said recently he would like to re-sign with the Magic.

A one-liner from Minneapolis Star Tribune columnist Sid Hartman says that former University of Utah center Michael Doleac, who will be in town when the Minnesota Timbewolves visit the Jazz on Wednesday, "wants to finish the season (in Minnesota) and hasn't decided whether he will play after this year."

Ex-Hawks point guard Tyronn Lue, waived last Friday by Sacramento, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he will soon sign with Dallas to back up Kidd. Lue had not yet cleared waivers, so he did not dress for Dallas against the Jazz on Monday.

MILESTONE: On this date in 1996, Jazz point guard John Stockton dished 11 assists in a win over Phoenix — to become the first player in NBA history with 11,000 assists.
