Art canvas
• The Sandy Watercolor Club announces a call for entries for March 5, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at 9310 S. 1300 East (Sandy Senior Center building). Art must be original, completed since 2006, matted, framed and wired for hanging. It will be a juried show. For more information, contact Verna at 943-7029.
• The Utah Watercolor Society announces a call for entries for its 2008 Spring Open Exhibition to be held May 15 at Palmers Gallery of Fine Art, 378 W. Broadway. The exhibition will run through June 14. Deadline for entries is April 1, and all entries must be digital and submitted by e-mail or CD. (No slides.) For more information, call Pat Heberling at 435-901-2425.
• The Brigham City Fine Arts Center, 58 S. 100 West, Brigham City, announces a call for entries for its themed exhibit, "Three Legs or More." The exhibit will open March 28. For all guidelines and more information, call the center at 435-723-0740 or visit bcfineartscenter.org.
• The Brigham Young University Museum of Art will continue its display of "Subway Graffiti #3," a contemporary quilt by Faith Ringgold, originally on display for Black History Month. Ringgold completed the work after a 1986 trip to Tokyo, Japan, where she was inspired by the crowded subway stations and unfamiliar writing that looked like graffiti. The quilt depicts the names and faces of many of the artist's friends and family members.
