SOCCER: BYU soccer will hold its annual tryout on February 28 and 29 and March 1 in the Indoor Practice Facility. Tryouts are open to interested BYU students and potential incoming freshmen for the fall 2008.

Utah Valley

WRESTLING: A fast start propelled Northern Colorado past Utah Valley, 28-10, in Western Wrestling Conference action on Friday. The Wolverines dropped to 7-10 overall and 1-3 in WWC action.

SOCCER: Eight students have given their commitment to play for Southern Utah University women's soccer. The list includes five from Utah, two from Nevada and one from Idaho. Among those signing are Charly Booth of Viewmont High, defender Nikki Packham (American Fork HS), midfielders Michelle Judd (Pine View HS), Riley Bassett (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Elyse Alexander (Riverton HS). Also Stacey Brinkman (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Kendel Murray (Timpview HS) will bring versatility with experience in the midfield and attacking third, and forward McKenzie Hadley of Eagle, Idaho.

Utah State

TENNIS: At Las Cruces, N.M., Utah State men's tennis was defeated by New Mexico State, 6-1, Sunday. USU fell to 1-6 on the season, while NMSU improves to 3-2 overall. Oscar Ericsson tallied the lone point for Utah State at No. 2 singles. USU faces Weber State on Wednesday in Logan.

GYMNASTICS: Behind a season-high score on bars and three top five individual finishers, Utah State placed third in a quad meet hosted by Denver on Saturday. Utah State is 2-6 on the season. Individually, freshman Lyndsie Boone competed in the all-around for the first time, finishing fifth with a 38.475 while junior Nicki Felley was sixth with a 38.45. SOFTBALL: At Palm Springs, Calif., Utah State softball dropped a 9-0 run-rule decision to No. 2 Texas A&M, in five innings Sunday in the Aggies' final game of the Cathedral City Classic. USU is now 0-5 on the season. USU plays next weekend at the San Diego State Campbell Cartier Tournament against UC Santa Barbara and Tulsa.

Weber State

TRACK & FIELD: The Weber State men's and women's track and field teams picked up nine new Big Sky Conference qualifiers and combined for numerous seasonal bests Friday and Saturday at the Mountain State Games in Pocatello, Idaho. The 'Cats now have just two meets remaining before the Big Sky Championships.

On the men's side, Terrell Brown who posted a career-best mark of 24-08 3/4 in the long jump. Bret Ferrier qualified and won the 3,000 meters, posting a time of 8:31.30 to win by nearly three seconds.
