Lucero, a Midvale native, was part of the original team that opened Matilda's in 2000. He has also worked as banquet, food and beverage director at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, and sous chef at Passages at the Inn at Temple Square (www.matildasoutpost.com or 304-4095).
Sweet Tomatoes restaurants are featuring a monthlong Ragin' Cajun special to celebrate Mardi Gras 2008. Dishes include Neighbor Joe's Gumbo, French Quarter pecan muffin, and Rajin' Cajun tossed salad, in addition to the regular menu.
The restaurant chain serves made-from-scratch soups, salads, breads and desserts (www.sweettomatoes.com).
Harmons Grocery Stores are sponsoring the company's 19th Annual PTA Day Feb. 7. Parents, neighbors and friends can shop at any of Harmons' 12 locations on that day, and Harmons will donate 5 percent of the net sales to participating schools. The goal is to raise more than $46,000.
