11 fire departments get federal grants

Eleven Utah fire departments will receive $685,000 in federal grants from the U.S. Fire Administration. The grants are being divvied out as part of the USFA's firefighter safety program.

The Rocky Ridge Fire Department, made up of 15 volunteer firefighters in Juab County, will receive $238,925 to purchase a new fire truck. And the Mona Fire Department will use its $82,653 grant to purchase new safety equipment and protective gear.

Other grant recipients include the South Davis Metro Fire Agency, Washington City Fire Department, Logan Fire and EMS, Murray City Fire Department, Mantua Volunteer Fire Department, Syracuse Fire Department, La Verkin Fire and Rescue, Elk Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and Mountain Green Fire Protection District.
