From Deseret News archives:
Picabo Ski Challenge is Sunday
The race will feature celebrities, sports figures, expert and novice skiers and, of course, Picabo Street, the Olympic gold medalist.
All funds generated from the ski race, banquet and auction will go toward the prevention of abuse and to help abused children through the National Children's Alliance and Children's Advocacy Centers nationwide.
The event is held during the Sundance Film Festival, which makes it possible to draw a number of high-profile celebrities and sports figures.
Each of the sponsored teams will be captained by a well-known personality. Among the benefits of sponsorships will be the opportunity to make "first tracks" with Street before the official opening of the resort.
There will also be a VIP dinner, which will include a silent and live auction on Saturday evening at Deer Valley.
Live auction items include a Four Seasons Paris package, E! Entertainment experience with Giuliana DePandi, "Access Hollywood" experience with Billy Bush, Las Vegas NASCAR giveaway, Korbel California Winery package, and private ski lessons with Street, to name a few.
Celebrities confirmed to date include Street, Bill Rancic ("The Apprentice" winner and co-host), Billy Bush ("Access Hollywood" correspondent), Kate Walsh (actress), Giuliana DePandi (E! Entertainment correspondent), Dakota Fanning (actress), Lisa Ling (actress/writer), Kristen Bell (actress), Stephen Colletti (actor), Audrina Patridge (actress), James Eckhouse (actor) and Nickolai Stoilov (actor).
