Behind the chamber's spending was the Utah League of Credit Unions, $15,515; Comcast, $11,722; Questar, $8,414; and the Utah State Bar Association, $7,165. (It should be noted that the Deseret Morning News was No. 12 on that list for $3,375 worth of free newspapers that it gave legislators during its 2007 session.)

Among individual lobbyists, Scott Simpson — lobbyist for the Utah League of Credit Unions — gave the most; $15,515. Among his interesting expenses was $5,011 last month to take an undisclosed number of legislators and family members to a showing of the movie "National Treasure: Book of Secrets."

Behind him were Comcast lobbyist Steve Proper, $11,722; lobbyist Spencer Stokes — who has numerous clients — $11,568; former legislator Paul Rogers, $7,454; former legislator Blaze Wharton, $7,111; and IHC lobbyist Alan Dayton, $7,097.
