PROVO — Inauguration ceremonies are scheduled this week for dozens of newly elected members of city councils throughout Utah Valley.

Four members of the Provo City Council, three beginning second terms — Cynthia Dayton, Midge Johnson and Steve Turley — and new member Sherrie Hall Everett will take the oath of office on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Provo City Center, 351 W. Center.

The ceremony will include remarks from all four as well as from Mayor Lewis Billings, two other council members and the council attorney. The ceremony will be followed by the first council meetings of the year, beginning with a study meeting at 5:30 p.m. and a regular meeting at 7.

Many other Utah Valley cities and towns have scheduled swearing-in ceremonies for city and town council members elected in November.
