Next weekend Utah Valley will host the 1st Utah Valley Open in the Shurian Family Activity Center.
BASKETBALL: For much of the night it appeared that the Westminster Griffins were going to come away with a Frontier Conference opening win over Lewis-Clark State College (Idaho), but a late Warriors rallychanged that plan. L-C rallied from seven down with five minutes leftin regulation to force overtime. In the extra session, the teams exchanged the lead three times with L-C eventually taking an 85-84 victory. Danny Stosich finished with 29 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out in overtime. Nate Sanchez went for 20 points and eight rebounds. Jordan Jacobs added16 points, including four from three-point land, and Reeder had six points and nine assists. Westminster will next face MSU-Northern on Thursday, January 10. Tip-off for that contest is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the Behnken Field House.
Elisa Leader put up 16 points for the Griffins, but was just 4-of-11 from the floor. Alexis Tucker added 15 points and five rebounds. Westminster was out-rebounded 40-28 in the games and allowed 14 offensive boards to the Warriors.
