But she said that skeptics need to ask themselves who and what they want first in educating their kids about sex.

"The kids are going to see it. There is no doubt about it, and it's best to have talked to them and give them a framework to understand it and a line of communication to go back and discuss what they do see," Child said.

Child said ultimately she would like to see the book, or one like it, used as part of fifth-grade maturation curriculum. It would also be useful for computer teachers to prepare children for what they may come across while online.
