Utah sharing grant for reform of schools
Utah will receive $576,478 in School Improvement Grants. The grants come under No Child Left Behind and are aimed at fostering school reform to make sure all students, regardless of race, income, disability or English language acquisition, are able to read and do math on grade level by 2014.
The U.S. Department of Education will award $125 million in School Improvement Grants this year.
The largest grant went to California, which received $16.6 million; the smallest went to Delaware, which received about $329,000.
