REI PRESENTS GRANTS

REI has presented $30,000 in grants and awards to nonprofit groups here in Utah.

The various groups promote volunteer projects, encourage responsible outdoor recreation, support youth groups and help protect the environment.

Among the recipients:

• The Cottonwood Canyons Foundations, which is involved in improving Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons through stewardship and educational programs.

• Trips for Kids, which provides mountain bike experiences and training to local, underprivileged youths.

• Volunteers for Outdoor Utah, which provides trail-skills training on the Skyline Trail.

• Nordic United, which has worked to support winter adventures and human-powered winter recreation.

GORGOZA PARK OPEN

The park offers seven lighted and lift-served tubing lanes, including three beginner and four advanced tubing lanes.

The park also offers minisnowmobiles for children ages 5 to 12.
