Karing for Utah Kids plans holiday event
For the past six years, Karing for Utah Kids, a nonprofit organization, has donated more than 500 handmade quilts and hug-a-bear cuddle toys to Utah children with cancer and diabetes, as well as children from the Trauma Awareness and Treatment Center.
From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, blankets, bears and other toys will be distributed to more than 150 children at the Karing for Utah Kids seventh annual Saturday with Santa event at the Wentworth in Cottonwood Heights. Lesley Harrop, activities director for Wentworth, said volunteers and seniors from the center will hand out the quilts and bears to children in need.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this free event. Children may visit and take photos with Santa, and games and food are provided at no cost. The additional quilts are available for purchase, and all proceeds will go to benefit Utah's charities.
