High school athletes of the week
After suffering an unexpected takedown early in the match, Chamberlain quickly took over and had his way with the two-time Texas state champion. He tossed Adamson around like a rag doll, using a ferocious sweep to score one two-point takedown after another.
Chamberlain had worked on the move with his coach all week because he felt like it would serve him well deep into the tournament. He was not disappointed.
"He was pretty heavy on his feet so I took them when they were there," Chamberlain said.
Chamberlain is the top-ranked wrestler nationally in his weight class.
MANDY MUNNS, Box Elder, Basketball: This senior center is every coach's dream come true, and not just because she owns the paint.
"She's one of those dream athletes," said Bees head coach Kris Harding. "She's a leader. She is so intense, even in practices. She pushes the other girls, but she doesn't demand anything that she doesn't do herself."
The 6-3 honor student has already committed to play basketball for the University of Utah, and her coach said she has the rare combination of athleticism and size. She's led the Bees to a 3-0 start after helping the volleyball team to a second-place finish in the 4A tournament last month.
"She's really mobile and athletic," Harding said. "And she's got a great attitude."
