Tabernacle Choir album tops Billboard chart
"The Spirit of the Season," a new Christmas album by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, is No. 1 on the Classical Album chart, according to Billboard magazine.
The ranking is based on a national sample of sales reports.
"The Spirit of the Season" was recorded last December, and includes music presented during the Choir and Orchestra's 2006 Christmas concerts. Also featured in the recording is Norwegian recording artist Sissel.
The concerts were recorded by PBS and will be televised during the 2007 Christmas season.
Also in the Classical Albums top ten are "Browns in Blue" (No. 5), featuring LDS pianists the 5 Browns, and "O Holy Night" (No. 9), featuring LDS violinist Jenny Oaks Baker.
