SPANISH FORK (AP) — Construction is under way on a wind farm in Spanish Fork Canyon in Utah County.

The goal is to have the job done by June. By January or February, giant wind turbines will be installed. Powered by the wind, the turbines will produce electricity.

The project is headed by a company called Wasatch Wind.

Mayor Joe Thomas said the city will receive very little money from property taxes, but it will get money because Wasatch Wind is leasing some land. The city will get approximately $500,000 during the 20-year contract.

"This deal is about the biggest win-win," Thomas said. "We won't get it any other way ... if we don't help them."
