Seven years ago, it was Bush v. Gore. Now, President Bush is hosting former Vice President Al Gore at the White House — this time as a Nobel laureate.

The president has invited this year's U.S. winners of Nobel prizes to the White House on Nov. 26.

Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change shared the Nobel Peace Prize for efforts to educate and raise awareness about the effects of manmade climate change.

Among other invitees are Mario Capecchi of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and Oliver Smithies from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, who were awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine. Their work led to a powerful and widely used technique to manipulate genes in mice, which has helped scientists study heart disease, diabetes, cancer, cystic fibrosis and other diseases.
