Solitude Mountain Resort will open Friday, the first resort to open in Utah for the 2007-08 season.

Officials with Ski Utah encouraged enthusiasts to "pull the sticks and boards out of the garage and get the first tracks of the season.

"The Utah winter season started out with a bang in October, but November's Indian Summer gave skiers and riders a few extra weeks to cram in some last-minute cross training," Ski Utah officials said Thursday.

With temperatures dropping, snowmaking engineers have been able to supplement the current snowpack, while a few more storms will assist other resorts in opening for the season soon.
