Because of current snow conditions, snowboarders will attend classes this Saturday for the Deseret Morning News/KSL Ski and Snowboard School. Skiers, however, will push the opening lesson back to Dec. 1.

Lessons for snowboarders will be at Snowbird on Saturday, then will meet again on Dec. 1 and 8.

Lessons for skiers will at Alta on Dec. 1, 8 and 15.

The reason for the split is that Snowbird has broken its classes into two sessions of 150 students each.

Alta will have one daily session for 400 skiers, "and for that many skiers, to give them the best possible experience, we want to have the best possible conditions," said David "Hoopa" Robinson, director of the Alta Ski School.

The snowboard school is full. No more applications will be accepted. There are still a few openings left for skiing. Cost is $35.

Canyon Sports is offering a special rental program to skiers. They can pick up equipment prior to the first class, which is now Dec. 1, and not return it until after the Dec. 15 class. The three-week rental fee is $31.

Skiers can register at any of the three Canyon Sports locations or at Deseret Morning News offices, 30 E. 100 South. Store locations are 1844 E. Fort Union Blvd. (7000 South), 517 S. 200 West or 45 W. 10600 South.

For information call 237-2135 or 942-3100.
